A Step-by-Step Guide with Updates and Personal Tips on How to Sign Up for the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta

The best thing you can do if you’re like me and can’t wait for Capcom to release their next big monster-slaying game is to join up for the Monster Hunter Wilds beta. I’ve waited, worried about losing out, and frantically searched Google. So, let me teach you how to go in, step by step, from one fan to another.

Why People Are Talking About the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta

Let’s get started. I was halfway through watching a trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds when I saw the first teaser. The new wyvern’s thunderous roar, the wide-open ecosystems, and the desert that is alive and breathing. I paused.

This was more than just a new game. It was a shift.

The enthusiasm is at an all-time high now that the beta is coming up. But here’s the thing: it’s not always straightforward or clear how to join a Monster Hunter beta. Capcom doesn’t always release it on every platform. Sometimes it’s a quiet drop, and if you don’t know about it, you lose your chance.

That’s why I’m putting out this guide: so you don’t have to worry and can get directly to the hunt.

What is the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta?

Before we get into the intricacies, let’s go over the basics.

Capcom lets select gamers play a component of the game early called the Monster Hunter Wilds beta. It is used to:

  • Test servers under stress
  • Get feedback on how to play the game
  • Get people excited before the launch

And yes, most of the time it’s free. You just need the right platform, a Capcom ID, and to sign up before the deadline.

Is the Beta Already Up and Running?

As of June 2025, the beta sign-up is not yet available online.

But we do know this:

  • Beta versions that Capcom has released in the past
  • Social media rumors and leaks
  • What those who work there think

What You Can Expect from the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Event:

  • Beta announcement: July 2025
  • Beta sign-up period: July to August 2025
  • Beta begins: August 2025
  • Full game: Sometime in 2025 (date TBD)

Capcom normally puts out betas a few months before the game comes out. It makes sense for Monster Hunter Wilds to have a beta period in the third quarter since it won’t come out until 2025.

Step by Step: How to Join the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta

Here’s how to sign up for the beta when it starts and what you’ll need. I’ll also tell you what worked for me in the Monster Hunter Rise and World betas.

Step 1: Sign in or Make a Capcom ID

You need a Capcom ID to join in. This is free and just takes a minute to set up.

Link: https://www.capcom.com
Once you’re in, check that your email is accurate and save your login details.

Pro Tip: I forgot my Capcom password during the Rise beta and had to reset it while the site was busy. Check your login early so you don’t make the same mistake I did.

Step 2: Click on the Link to the Page Where You Can Sign Up for the Beta

Usually, Capcom makes a separate beta site. Look for something like:

  • monsterhunter.com/wilds/beta
  • Or a tweet or post from the official Monster Hunter Twitter/X

You will need to:

  • Pick your platform: Xbox, PS5, or Steam
  • Look at your account and region
  • Accept the terms and conditions

Step 3: Link Your Console Accounts

You might need to link your Capcom ID to your Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, or Steam account.
Why? Because the beta is only available on a few systems. You will either get a download code or automatic access, depending on your system.

Step 4: Wait for a Response

After you sign up, you can:

  • Get confirmation right away
  • If there isn’t enough room, you will be put in a lottery
  • Get an email with details about how to get in closer to beta day

Step 5: Download the Beta Client

If you get in, you will get:

  • A link or code to get it
  • How to install it
  • Times to begin and conclude

Preload if you can. These files are big, at least 20 to 30 GB.

What You Can Expect from the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Features

We don’t know exactly what’s in there, but prior betas give us some clues.

🔥 Possible Features:

  • 1–2 new monsters
  • 1–2 biomes, such as a savannah or desert
  • Solo and multiplayer hunts
  • Short missions that run 15 to 20 minutes
  • All 14 weapon types
  • A tutorial for new mechanics

If you played the World or Rise betas, you know how well-polished these slices are. They’re not just a demo. It’s a preview of what’s to come.

My First Beta Hunt: A Story About Me

Let me take you back.

It was 2017. Monster Hunter World came out right after I learned how to parry with the lance. I downloaded the beta, chose the Great Jagras quest, and jumped in by myself, not understanding what to do or having the necessary gear.

Five minutes later, I was on the ground for the first time out of three.

But I was hooked.

There’s something thrilling about being one of the first people to face a new beast ,  to study its behavior, dodge its attacks, and finally land that satisfying final blow.

If Monster Hunter Wilds has even a fraction of that magic in the beta, I’ll be the first in line.

How to Prepare for the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Sign Up

  1. Follow Capcom on social media
This is where news usually breaks first. X/Twitter, Capcom Newsroom, Discord, and Reddit.
  2. Connect your accounts ahead of time
Don’t let login issues ruin your day. Link your platforms now.
  3. Be aware of the time zones
Beta access often opens at 9 AM PT or midnight JST.
  4. Stable internet connection
Beta download files can range from 20–50 GB.
  5. Play with friends
Most betas allow co-op play ,  team up for maximum fun.
